9-Month Housing: Assignment Priorities and Criteria

Assignment Priorities for 2014–15

As West Campus continues to develop, the number of options for undergraduates increases. We are excited to receive your application for housing, and will assign you based on the following:

Priority 1

Current residents of 9-month housing, 12-month apartments and Nordheim Court who apply by April 11

Priority 2A

New freshmen who apply between May 8 and May 15, in random order

Priority 2B

New freshmen who apply between May 16 and June 1, in order of application

Priority 3

New undergraduate freshmen who apply between June 2 and June 30, in order of application date

New undergraduate transfer students who apply by July 15*, in order of application date

Priority 4 Undergraduate students who are not identified as Priority 1, 2 or 3, in order of application date

Priority 5

Nonmatriculated students, in order of application date and on a space-available basis

*Transfer students who are offered admission after July 15 may contact the Student Services Office to request an exception. An exception is not automatic, and the reason for the delay in the admission decision may be considered.

If a waiting list is established, preference may be given to students who live outside commuting distance.

Assignment Criteria

Room assignments are based on eligibility (e.g., departmental approval) and the following criteria, in the order presented:

1st: Assignment Priority

2nd: Agreement duration preference

3rd: Mutual roommate request

4th: Gender-neutral housing request

5th: Theme community request

6th: Building preference

7th: Room type preference

8th: Lifestyle preferences

Every attempt will be made to assign you to a room that meets your preferences; however, due to space limitations we may not be able to meet your requests.
